The theme for the Summer of 2017 is Build a Better World! The Summer Reading Program at the Marlborough Public Library encourages children up through grade 5 to read, listen to music, watch movies, and have fun this summer! Who knew so much fun was to be had at the library? (We did!)
My child can’t read yet. That’s okay! Even babies can enter our Summer Reading Program, because it counts if you are reading, looking through books, being read to, or listening to audio books. The books/magazines/comics don’t have to come from the library – everything counts!
What do I have to do? Every time you read 3 hours (for kids up to second grade) or 5 hours (for kids in third through fifth grades), you earn your choice of a prize from our Treasure Cart, a book, or a raffle ticket that can be used to win bigger prizes at the end of the summer. The more you read, the more you can enter… up to 10 prizes or tickets each! All you have to do is sign up for the Summer Reading Program, and get reading!
We have so many prizes this year! For every 3 hours (180 minutes for kids up to second grade) or 5 hours (300 minutes for kids in third through fifth grade) that you read or are read to, you have earned your choice of:
- A treasure from our Treasure Cart – small toys, pencils, rubber duckies, and more!
- A book from our book cart – books that we picked out just for you!
- A raffle ticket, that you can use to enter into one of our big prize drawings in August. There are 10 prizes to choose from, for all ages. Stop by and take a look!
You can win up to 10 times this summer!
The library will also be hosting a number of fun events for teens throughout the summer. Visit our calendar to see all of the events and to register for those events that require registration.
On Your Mark, Get Set…Read! is sponsored by your local library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
